Hi guys! Remember me??? I had told you
about Candy my sweet little 3-year-old girl dog. Well, guess what? I now am
fostering another puppy. My family and I, want to adopt it. However, we want to
make sure the puppy is just right for Candy. So now my poor daddy is the only
boy left in our home. He does not mind though, after all, before we even
brought home Kulfi he still was the only boy in our house. Hey did I tell you
that my new sister's/ pup's name is just as sweet as Candy??? Her name is Kulfi
as you might have already guessed! Don't
you think her name is as nice and cute as Candy's, or should I say tempting? Ha Ha,
just joking. She and Candy look so very lovable together.
Kulfi
When we just got her she was just wrapped
up in a warm blankie and looked innocently up to us. She looked as if she could
be an angel, so quiet, so harmless. She looked like a stuffed toy!!! But her
real personality came out when she arrived at our place and was not in a sleepy
mood. She suddenly started attacking my face! She started biting us and biting
us and kept on biting us. Her favorite place is my hair. Her second most
favorite places are lips, nose, and ears, if not favourite places, she is okay
to bite elsewhere. We even joked that maybe we could train her to be a hair or
nail cutter, Haha, funny right? She once stole my new headphones and started to
chew on it, luckily, it did not break and worked. She has many more achievements,
like, she broke 3 pairs of slippers in a few hours! Chewed our sofa, tore
curtains, etc. But I can't be the one who should complain, because she gifted
me two days of vacation from school, by chewing right through our broadband cable,
I definitely owe her that one.
When we got her, most of her fur was
white except her ears, one brown spot on her abdomen, one at the starting of
her tail, and one in the middle of her ears. Now, her whole back is covered
with spots! Even her skin is spotted in black and brown. Her face is always filled with curiosity and
excitement. She has a cute, little, black, button nose and adorable, tiny,
black, and pink paws. Her legs are so small that they are just a little bigger
than my fingers. Like Candy, she loves toys, and food too. She is very vocal.
We have to mix her food with warm water as the doctor had told us but if she
has to wait for her food to cool down, then she starts cooing loudly, like,
really very loudly!
Candy and Kulfi
Just before the day, we got her I tried
to read everything I could, about how to bond between an adult dog and a puppy.
I was so excited, I could hardly contain my excitement. Poor Candy she did not
even know what we were going to bring for her! When after centuries of waiting
(must have been an hour of waiting), we finally got her, Candy, at first,
looked quite confused, but then understood what we got, and she must have
thought “Oh MY DOG! It is a (naughty) puppy”.
When Kulfi started biting, the look on Candy's face was priceless! She
looked at us as though, we were the most ridiculous people on earth to get this
dinosaur home. I think (hope) candy would be fond of Kulfi if she stopped
biting. Kulfi, when she first met Milo, a 5-year-old beagle, must have thought
that his ears are so tempting. I can completely understand, her anger at us, to
not let her chew his ears. Well, but that was the only sensible thing to do
because we want her to get friends and by chewing his ears she would get one
less friend.
Candy, Kulfi & I
At first, Candy just observed Kulfi, see
whether we were just keeping her for a day or two because we have fostered
other dogs in the past. But then slowly she realized, that Kulfi is not going
away. So, at first, she just started with growling and barking when Kulfi
irritated her, but with that Kulfi did not back off. Looking at Kulfi’s biting
spree, Candy decided to start nose nudging and hitting with her paw. Nowadays,
we sometimes see, Candy has started licking Kulfi, so we are hopeful that they
get along. In fact, they even played with each other a few times. I observed
that most pedigree dogs (like Labradors, Retriever, Beagles, etc.) did not get
along well with Kulfi, but Indies (Indian breeds) got along quite well with
Kulfi. We are keeping our fingers
crossed, that if Kulfi befriends Indies then even Candy might be able to play
with them, making a great big circle of doggy friends.
Latest Update, I said before I owe her,
but now we are even, because she chewed through my IPAD charging cable .
