Book Review - White Fang

This book is about a wolf whose name is “White Fang”. It’s about his life and how he grew up. Father wolf had died, at first, the mother wolf managed to bring some food. After few days White Fang started venturing out of the caves. He started hunting small animals and birds, and often got into trouble.  White Fang knew the law of wild is “Eat or Be eaten”. White Fang started catching bigger games. One day he even saved his mother from a Lynx.

Once White Fang saw five strange animals with two legs walk towards him. His mother came rushing, and to his surprise she didn’t run away but sniffed the air and lied down looking towards them. One of the men cried out “it’s Keiche”. One of them called Gray Beaver, picked up White Fang and said “Oh, so this is your son”. His teeth are so sharp and white; we will call him White Fang. White Fang expected to see his mother again but Gray Beaver had decided otherwise. Keiche was given to Three Eagles, the Indian chief of neighboring tribe. At once, White Fang began to live with Gray Beaver even though he missed his mother; Gray Beaver decided to shift and took White Fang along with him. It was a change for White Fang; he had never seen so many people. After few days, he understood that each person had a dog or two. His master didn’t have much time for White Fang, so he used to fight with other dogs. People used to come and watch the fights. A cruel and ugly person who was jokingly known as Beauty Smith was always on the side of White Fang. Beauty Smith wanted White Fang. At first Gray Beaver said no but then sold White Fang at almost nothing. Beauty Smith kept White Fang caged treated him cruelly and only let him out to fight. Because of this White Fang became really fierce. Every time he would win and Beauty Smith would earn money. Each time he grew fiercer, brave and strong. Once a bull dog came to fight, this time bull dog was winning. White Fang was losing his fight and life, when two people came to rescue White Fang, Mr. Scott and Mr. Matt. They saved his life. White Fang lived in Mr. Scott’s home his whole life. During his stay at Mr. Scott’s house, White Fang realized, these two legged animals called human beings also have lot of love, care and affection to share.
